Allah forgives those who aspire for His forgiveness

Making mistakes is a part of being human and internalising this means we acknowledge that perfection is only with Allah عزوجل. The important thing is that no matter how serious our mistakes, we should always remain hopeful that His عزوجل Mercy and Forgiveness are as infinite as He عزوجل is.

We should think of mistakes as an opportunity to return to Him عزوجل and seek His عزوجل favour, as it is a chance for us to reaffirm our faith and express our humbleness before His عزوجل Majesty. So long as we do not associate likeness to Him عزوجل in anything, He عزوجل will, no doubt, forgive us. About this, the blessed Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم narrates that Allah عزوجل said:

يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ مَا دَعَوْتَنِي وَرَجَوْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ عَلَى مَا كَانَ فِيكَ وَلاَ أُبَالِي يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ لَوْ بَلَغَتْ ذُنُوبُكَ عَنَانَ السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ وَلاَ أُبَالِي يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي بِقُرَابِ الأَرْضِ خَطَايَا ثُمَّ لَقِيتَنِي لاَ تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْئًا لأَتَيْتُكَ بِقُرَابِهَا مَغْفِرَةً

O son of Adam, so long as you supplicate me and aspire for My forgiveness, I will forgive you, and I do not care. O son of Adam, I do not care if your sins were to reach the lofty regions of the sky, if you seek My forgiveness, I will forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins in near equivalence to the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would grant you, in equivalence, My forgiveness. — Tirmidhi #3540

These Majestic words of Allah عزوجل stand as a definitive reminder, that no matter who we are and what we do, we will always be worthy of His عزوجل Forgiveness. We must always remain hopeful because His عزوجل Compassion has no bounds and we, His عزوجل Creation, can only begin to imagine how much He عزوجل loves us. We need only to walk towards Him عزوجل and He عزوجل will rush towards us and envelope us in His عزوجل Mercy.
